Water Damage SEO for Franchises LinkedIn Spy Tapes
Welcome, to the second installment of LinkedIn Spy Tapes, where I take one of my LinkedIn connections without divulging; their information and what it would take for them to rank in the first page in Google for a specific search term. This week I was looking at Water Damage Restoration SEO, I’m going to look at Water Damage Restoration in Hartford Connecticut and see what we come for results; first thing we want to see what’s going on in the search results. We see we have a three pack here, which is these are Google My Business listing, these three. The thing is with the website I’m looking at, they don’t have the Google My Business; they don’t even have it claimed. That’s important you want to claim that because, if you don’t have a Google My Business for your local business. There is a chance that you would be in here and if it’s not competitive at all because google does make some of these listings on their own. But you want to be able to optimize that if anything competitive, if you don’t claim it and optimize it you don’t really stand a chance of being in those top three. If someone clicked more places you would be there but not just without doing anything without claiming it; you probably not going to show up.
This has a lot of benefits, the main benefit for your business, is that on a mobile device this result here these top three you just touch the result; on your phone and it dials the number so that’s great it’s a good click to…Then you see so we have a lot of, typically you will see thumbtack, you will see ServePro sites, you will see some of these franchise sites on this is not a ton of franchises. These are websites, but these are they are not domains of the actual franchise; some franchises give you a section of their website it’s called the sub-domain that you can use. It does not look like ServePro does, so you see that there is a few serve pro competing. Let me see, if I can find on page 2 on one that does it the other way.
I don’t see any right now, actually I think 911 restorations does it that way and they don’t do a sub-domain, they do a sub-page. I would have to look at this a little bit more, to see if this is actually the business owner’s page. It looks like maybe we can just go like this; we can search for this phone number and see what it comes up with. It looks like this is their actual business, for this franchise it looks like you are getting a sub-page then there are also sub-domains; where sometimes they have with Hartford 911 Restoration. This is 911 Restorations Connecticut so it’s not even in the main site. When I first looked at it said 911 restorations, but it’s not. It looks like it, but it’s actually in Connecticut end.
The main thing we want to look at here is the basics of on page SEO. The page title is just blue, blue link, all of these, we want to see some commonalities; with commonalities these page titles have. Most of the time you are going to see it as not all, but majority of them have Hartford and the page title; so that is telling google that your page title is about Hartford. The other part would be Water Damage, we are looking at Water Damage, so see Water Damage Hartford, and they all have water damage so page title as you can see in this listing. You would definitely want Water Damage Hartford in your page title; if you would try and rank for Hartford Water Damage or Water Damage Hartford. Then we start looking, most of these on page 2 have it, this is part of the page title, if you don’t have that on your page title; you probably will have trouble ranking for it unless you have a high domain authority. Then the next part is the URL then you have Hartford Water Damage kind of, it’s not on every single one; but you can see that google bold what it sees and all of this is going to bold. Hartford Water Damage then you see this is the page description of Water Damage Hartford; water that thumbtack usually ranks because it has high domain authority, Water Damage Hartford you can see how it’s kind of bolded.
So, that’s another thing you want in your page your URL, if you can and in your page description which you should be able to change the page descriptions. The next thing we are going to look at is we will take the first one ServPro West Hartford. Let’s see how many links they have going, how many citations, local citations do a lot. There is a few ways to do it, one way that I like doing it is just using google and using the search operator; there are some search operators that you can use. I’m just going to search for this domain, anything that has I may put the www in there, we don’t want the site showing up; we don’t want this domain showing up, we are going to minus that. We want to see other pages, right now it shows 111 results and if you look into that even more, you can see all these links. These are essentially, back links but they are also citations this would be if you would be talking about a back link, this would be branded …naked URL type stuff. But also mostly it’s going to be probably citations and you will see Google plus, you can look and see what they have going to the site. Even though it says 111 results here, you look down here it only goes to page 5.
They only have actually; let’s go to page 3 so they only have for citations less than 24; because some of these are from other sites like IP neighbors and things like that. The number site for Water Damage Hartford looks fairly easy to be; if you want to open site explorer we can see back links coming into, you can just log in with a basic account, you can just create an account it gives you a few searches. If I was doing it without page account, this a free account, let me just plug this in, we probably want to use the www, it redirects. There is page authority and domain authority that’s a school that MOZ; gives to a website and that’s based on how much content the website has. How many links it has going back to it, right here it does not look like there is many going to it according to MOZ. I have found one link it’s from KA Insurance; we can go and look at that. This is their link and it links back to that site; that’s a lot of links we can look at another one see how many we can get with the free version.
That is the same website so we are not going to do that one. Let’s look at Advanta Clean, let’s see what their website looks like, we will take a look at these guys and see what they look like; they have high page authority, we are going to wait for the links, high domain authority. This may be like a lead generation site you are kind of limited to what you can see. Either this large site, I’m not familiar with Advanta Clean. They may be a large franchise, they are franchise what they are doing is sub-page, for each area East of Connecticut. They are doing a lot, they do have it in their page title, which you can see up there, they have it in their URL, in their description they had a little in their description, let’s see Advanta Clean. They have Water Damage a lot that’s over optimized right there; but I don’t see in their description Hartford. These are things we would want to look at; there are more in-depth things that we could look at to give ourselves advantage like scheme mark up.
We could look at this page and see if there is any markup telling Google, what scheme markup does; it tells Google what your website is for a local business first of all. They are like little descriptions; they describe what your website is about and anything that we can do to make Google’s job easier we want to do. Google has a tool called Structured Data Markup Testing Tool; we can just look at this and go to the Structure Data Testing Tool. We can just plug in this URL, we want to go right to the page and see if this address we want to make sure; we want to see if they have any markup of address and location in here. So, we copy this and put it into the tool then we would run the test and see if there is any, that’s no markup detected, that’s something else that would give us an advantage, if we out that on our website to put the structure data on there. The other thing is looking at this links, I don’t think you need a lot of links to rank for this in Hartford; other cities may be different, but for Hartford I don’t think it’s that difficult.
The citations are important, so you know getting your business listed and yellow pages little bit of bold citation and social site; but like those yellow pages type sites. You don’t want to duplicate anything that you already have, don’t just go get a whole bunch of something you want to make sure, you want to see the ones you have and then add to that.
